What Your Job Will Be Like

Are you passionate about challenging physics and engineering problems? Join a dynamic team that helps tackle some of the most challenging issues facing our nation's security! We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to work in an R&D role developing and applying computational electromagnetic models and analytical methods for analysis of complex, high-consequence nuclear deterrence systems.

You will join an interdisciplinary team that analyzes a wide variety of electromagnetic problems. In this position, you will not only mature a deep technical understanding of electromagnetics, but also develop key skills in communication and multi-disciplinary collaboration. You will have mentorship and peer review from researchers in electromagnetic effects with opportunities to branch out into high voltage breakdown, magnetic components, and multi-physics modeling. Minimal travel is required.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

Work on projects consisting of requirements consultation, analysis, and modeling to determine EM environments and predict system response.
Support system and component design decisions.
Analyze and design facility or system protection.
Evaluate anomalous results due to electromagnetic environments.
Qualifications We Require

Master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline and at least two years of relevant experience or relevant STEM PhD.
Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
Qualifications We Desire

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus in electromagnetics
High level of success in both undergraduate and graduate programs
Experience and ability to solve technical problems both analytically and computationally.
Knowledge of lightning phenomenology and/or other electrical hazards and consequences such as from facility power systems and electrostatic discharge.
Experience with industry EM modeling tools (CST, COMSOL, ANSYS), circuit modeling tools (Mentor Graphics, Cadence), and computational and numerical analysis tools (Matlab, C++, Python, etc.)
