In this position, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing electronic systems and modules for new analytical instruments and providing sustaining support for existing products.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and document electrical systems utilizing analog and digital electronics for use in current and future products through creation of theory of operation documents and test reports
- Update and maintain PCBA designs and BOMs through the creation of detailed drawings, schematics, PCB layouts, and models using applications such as Altium
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical issues seen in products by customers and on the manufacturing line. Follow through with solution implementation
- Analyze and develop solutions to resolve component obsolescence issues. Perform component, board level, and system level experiments to qualify their use in products
- Follow sound engineering principles throughout the electrical circuit design and component selection process by leading design reviews, building prototypes, executing test plans to verify and qualify performance, and documenting the results
- Shepherd designs through the development cycle, coordinate with contract manufacturers, troubleshoot and bring up PCBAs, and ultimately release your design to production using Engineering Change Orders and a Configuration Management release process
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required:
- Solid technical background with understanding of analog and digital circuits
- Experience using engineering CAD tools for circuit board design, schematic capture, and PCB layout (Altium Preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting while working in a lab environment during board bring-up, characterization, and system level hardware integration
- Quick learner able to understand complex schematics and system architectures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively work within a larger cross functional team
- Organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Knowledge of PCB manufacture and assembly processes including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT)
- Experience integrating embedded system processors, low-level firmware, and FPGAs is valuable
- Experience designing for EMI/ESD protection
- Familiar with component selection and managing part obsolescence
Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering
- 7 years or more experience with development and test of electronic assemblies and instruments
- At least 5 years of analog design experience
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering
Working Conditions
- Majority of work occurs onsite in an office environment and electronics lab. Occasionally, work will entail working in a manufacturing environment, especially during testing and troubleshooting.

- Compensation-- The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all of the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
