Cates Control Systems is looking to hire an Electrical Designer to our team in Plano, TX. Joining the Cates team is both challenging and rewarding. You will become an important member of a very talented and dynamic team within our industry. If this sounds like you, please read on!

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will use your UL508A and NFPA 70 knowledge to develop industrial automation panels based on our client's specifications. Candidate will need to be a self-starter with little or no direction. Must be able to follow Cates standards and design methodology.

The Role:

• Gain mastery of electrical principles, NFPA 70 and UL508A requirements
• Define Electrical Design based on provided scope of work, specification, or internal documents
• Gather information to verify correct scope definition
• Design project drawings as required using the latest AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical software
• Create Bill of Materials manually or with AutoCAD Electrical
• Generate reports for purchasing, wire numbers & component numbers using AutoCAD Electrical
• Know and follow Quality Assurance Procedures
• Complete projects on time
• Demonstrate strong communication skills with Fabrication shop, colleagues, management and customers
• Addresses any drawing issues, questions or redlines in a timely manner once notified by Fabrication personnel
• AutoCAD Electrical Software experience (database management, block creation, parent-child relationships, automatic layout and BOM creation, etc.)

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in Electrical Design of Power & Control systems.
• Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70, UL508A, and IEC standards.
• Must be able to understand, interpret and design to meet required codes and standards.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience using AutoCad Electrical performing electrical design.
• Able to review proposal, scope, drawings, materials, logic etc. to ensure designs meet the proposed scope of supply, customers scope of supply and are technically correct.
