Job Overview

As a member of our Technical Services Group, Electrical Designers develop electrical circuit and system layouts for electric power distribution. They design prototypes, troubleshoot potential issues, make changes to fix any issues, and create specifications and other details for these systems.

Primary Functions

  • Distribution engineering for utility and medium voltage customers.
  • Electrical distribution system design.
  • Review electrical drawings.
  • Prepare construction sketches utilizing AutoCAD or appropriate software.
  • Assist project managers, engineers, and technicians in interpreting NEC, NESC and other applicable codes.
  • Work with senior engineers and technicians in learning the application of codes and distribution practices.
  • Support remote offices with tasks described here.
  • Participate or conduct customer site visits to develop professional relationships.
  • Prepare meeting strategies, agendas, minutes, etc.
  • Develop customer charges as determine by work hours, applicable codes, and tariffs.

Education and Experience:

  • Distribution engineering experience preferred, but not required.
  • An associate, bachelors, or trade certification in some form of engineering or similar field of study, or any combination of relevant experience is preferred. The candidate best fit to fill this role will be trained accordingly.
  • Experience utilizing computer software programs or ability to learn including MS 365 suite of applications.


Requirements:

This position's primary work location will be at our corporate headquarters in Victor, NY, however some customer sites will require travel outside the Rochester region.
