Summary/Purpose of Position Under direct supervision and guidance, this position will be provided an opportunity to be exposed to the medical device field and offer hands on experience working within the Research & Development group in an Engineering capacity. This position is located in Warwick, RI and student will be required to provide their own transportation. Essential Duties and Position Responsibilities Under direct supervision and guidance, this co-op will provide an opportunity to be exposed to the medical device field and offer hands on experience working within the Research & Development group in an Engineering capacity. As a co-op in the R&D department, you will have the opportunity to use state of the art tools and take advantage of training courses offered on-site. Working with cross-functional product development teams and alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to design and process solutions and the advancement of new product development projects. This individual would be responsible for compiling, analyzing and reporting operational test and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes or materials. You will be assigned to specific product and/or support teams. Duties Include: Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product and validating equipment and processes. Design and implementation of on-going training for tenured sales reps. May assist in inventing / creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods. Designs, procures and fabricates simple tooling and fixtures. Designs and coordinates engineering tests and experiments. Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community. Completes basic tasks on engineering documentation. Train technicians/operators on new processes and/or test procedures. Identifies areas for improvement, suggests solutions and submits idea records. Special projects as assigned. Travel to Supplier and/or End Mfg Facility as required by project Requirements: In order to be eligible for a AME Co-op position: The candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution and be in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology or Cellular biology . Only students in their Sophomore year or above will be considered. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required (or 4.0 for those enrolled in programs with a 5.0 scale). The student must be available to work during session indicated and demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.
