Purpose & Objectives.

In this role your primary objectives will revolve around the following (though you won't be limited to this list):

  • Professional Engineer: As a Professional Engineer, you will be serving as primary engineer on distribution design projects for approximately 2-3 clients and several ongoing projects (typically averaging 10 projects, which could increase depending on the client, demand, or seasonal shifts).
  • You will be leading a team of 2-4 engineers in the execution of design and consultation projects.
  • Hands-on design work including routing, design, and execution of distribution line projects.
  • Preparing proposals for engineering and project cost estimates.
  • Performing engineering analyses, preparing bidding documents, drafting plans and specifications, and preparing material procurement, and construction documents.
  • Ensuring feasibility and soundness of proposed applications are assessed and proper and accurate data has been collected, tested, and presented.
  • A key indicator of success will be strong, healthy relationships and consistent interaction with clients and other stakeholders including project planning teams, environmental/permitting agencies, construction management teams, DOTs, SHPO, FAA, USACE, R/W agents, landowners, and others.
  • Project Execution: From conceptualization through energization, you will be hands-on with varied projects and clients including IOUs, municipals, co-ops, and more. We work on numerous distribution voltages, depending on the owner. The types of framing and knowledge base range from traditional RUS style framing-materials to customized owner specific framing-materials. Our construction types range from direct bury wood poles to self-supporting steel poles and everything in between! Any midwestern types of structural framing, we've done it. Flexibility and eagerness to learn from and share knowledge with our external stakeholders will be primary character traits and must-haves. Maturity, mutual respect, and a commitment to serve will be expected, especially while you interface with our stakeholders out in the field or while at construction sites.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. This position description is intended to guide the activities of the person in this position and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person as to the work of this function.   • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). As required by role, or while visiting any field location or energized substations.
  • Travel. Approximately 25% travel for projects and travel to our home office in Marshfield, MO, our office in Rogers, AR, CDE company events, and various potential offsite classes or conferences per year. Team members must be able to travel by flight or vehicle.


Requirements.

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university (i.e., Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or another related discipline)
  • Must have an active registered P.E. license in the following states, or the ability to be licensed by reciprocity; AR, MO, IL, KS, OK, IN
  • 8+ years of professional experience with the following;
  • Leading a team and projects from conceptualization to completion while ensuring we comply with all measures regarding public safety.
  • Engineering and consulting with clients including IOUs, municipals, and co-ops, ability to learn and integrate with their internal accounting, design, auditing, contracting, and closeout software and/or processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365/Microsoft Suite office products, PLS CADD, PLS Pole, SAG10, DDS, GIS, additional varied distribution design tools, and project management software to aid in design work.
  • Advanced knowledge of distribution power flow and protection schemas.
  • Experience in power industry standards and codes, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI or GO95/GO128 rules and how they are applicable to distribution design.
  • Advanced understanding of technical specifications related to material and material shop drawings and contractual obligations related to change orders, RFIs, RFPs, etc.
  • Thorough review and approval of design documents, ensuring a high quality and constructability standard.
