We are seeking an experienced and proven engineering manager with extensive experience in leading a mechanical design team for industrial robot systems. The director will oversee the engineers responsible for robot cell design, including reach studies, layouts, tooling and fixture design and safety systems. The Director will have responsibility for the quality of work and adherence to project schedules.

Essential Functions:

• Managing a team of mechanical design engineers
• Interacting with the project manager, project engineers, the fabrication shop, and the customer in a professional manner
• Adhering to project schedules and budgets while managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Guiding design for robot cells, end effector tooling and custom equipment within the cell and then verifying the quality of the work
• Growing the skills of each Mechanical Engineer
• Collaborating with sales, estimating and management for pre-sales assistance with robot cell concepts

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency with 3-D modeling software - SolidWorks preferred
• Knowledge of ANSI/ASME standards
• Knowledge of the design of mechanisms involving pneumatic systems and electric motors, including experience with servos, sensors, materials, finishes and structural design
• Knowledge of fabrication and machining processes used to make custom components
• Knowledge of automated industrial processes

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Design experience in industrial robot cells, reach analysis, end effector tooling, fixture design, cycle time analysis and safety systems
• 10+ years of managing mechanical design engineering teams in industrial robotics
• Ability to learn quickly and remain current in this constantly evolving field
