Director of Financial Reporting


Mission of the Role:


The Director of Financial Reporting will be a critical team member and early employee, participating in building a highly scalable, best-in-class finance and accounting organization as a key partner with the Chief Financial Officer and the VP of Accounting. He / she will help drive financial and accounting operations and interaction with the operating businesses.


The Director of Financial Reporting must have superior organization and communication skills, while maintaining strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. This individual will direct and oversee the internal financial reporting function with regional platforms. This position will also be highly involved in enabling the regional platforms to improve their monthly financial statement close and reporting process. This opportunity offers high visibility to the executive leadership team in a rapidly growing company.


This role will report directly to the VP of Accounting and work closely as a key partner with the regional controllers and accounting teams.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide financial reporting management and oversight to ensure that financial statements are accurate and complete by reviewing them for any errors or omissions
  • Manage members of the regional accounting teams to drive financial reporting that is automated, accurate, timely, and audit-ready
  • Estimate the impact of new accounting standards or other changes in accounting principles on the regional financial statements
  • Monitor, evaluate and improve the monthly, quarterly and year-end close process
  • Review current processes for improvement and automation opportunities to enhance financial reporting procedures
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are prepared on a monthly basis by the regional platforms
  • Make decisions about which accounting methods should be used for recording transactions, and communicate these decisions to other departments within the organization
  • Assist as needed with comprehensive annual budget planning
  • Support team with key strategic initiatives
  • Prepare presentations as necessary summarizing key findings of analyses and projects
  • Lead a broad range of ad-hoc projects focused on improving reporting quality
  • Contribute to team culture and effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Experience:

  • 10+ years of prior accounting experience
  • CPA license required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, master's degree a plus
  • Public accounting experience required
  • Controller experience in a public or private company preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting
  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus
  • Experience preparing financial statements, robust disclosures, etc.
  • Strong ability to communicate accounting and financial information into common language
  • Extreme formatting, organization and priority setting skills
  • Strong accounting experience and demonstrated ability to lead / drive processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and teamwork
