Job Details: SUMMARY: Engineering is a broad field that is divided into various disciplines and sub-disciplines. The disciplines of engineering can be divided into five main categories: chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering. There are also branches or sub-disciplines of these main disciplines that offer specialized knowledge and skills in a particular expertise, for example, refrigeration specialization. As part of the Technical Engineering Discipline team, this individual will lead a team of specialized mechanical engineers and designer. This individual will utilize their experience and knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology focusing on projects which support the scope and budgeting generation, design construction, and project management of large and small-scale capital projects within the Mechanical Engineering Team, supporting all efforts at corporate and production facilities. This individual will have the responsibility to lead a team of engineers and designer to execute all aspect of the mechanical projects as well as oversee with their team any projects that are outsourced to external design firms and or design build partners. This position focuses on applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services focusing on all Mechanical Utility Design by utilizing both internal and external resources. Areas of Mechanical Utilities and services include Water, Steam, Hydraulics, Thermal Fluid, Pneumatic systems, cooking oil systems, HVAC, and more. This position will report directly to the Senior Director Engineering with focus primarily on poultry manufacturing facilities. Essential Core Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operational aspects of multiple equipment and process focused projects. Responsible for personnel management to include hiring, developing, and promoting personnel. Provide daily direction of goals and deliverables to support the broader Poultry Group Engineering Team. Maintain knowledge of and familiarize all Team Members with Tyson's personnel, training, purchasing, and safety programs and procedures. Interface daily with Poultry Group Engineers and plant team members. Monitor, report, and distribute reporting metrics to cross-functional teams regarding the status and progress of team projects. Review project CIRs for validity, scope, design QA, and network impact. Review project metrics for reasonableness, improve project control through process improvement and user training. Guide and assist Operations and Engineering teams to adhere to Tyson Poultry Group Engineering design specifications and standards. Create ad-hoc reports, analyses, and presentations as requested/needed. Highly customer focused with demonstrable inclination to gathering and receiving feedback to continually improve the quality of the deliverables Proven ability to lead the team by clearly defining the metrics of success, setting expectations and responsibilities, providing effective performance coaching, and inspiring team members to grow and meet their full potential in their current roles and careers and impact to the Organization Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Registration by examination as a Professional Engineer preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years of applicable engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years in the food industry preferred. COMPUTER SKILLS: Advanced computer skills required, to include proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access). Experience with SAP, AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling is preferred. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent communication skills to multiple internal department leaders, plant and operation leadership including executive level leadership. SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be versatile, flexible, and non-resistant to change. Must be quality focused. Must possess a good attitude to superiors, peers, and especially customers. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be team oriented. Must be able to establish project plans and timelines to meet customer deadlines. Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at any one time. Must have exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in team environments with focus on sustainability. Must be proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with the ability to work in a high output environment. Must have knowledge of various mechanical utilities and services as mentioned above. SUPERVISORY: 6+ Direct Reports. As a people manager, the role will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. The incumbent provides training, planning, assigning, and directing work assignments and schedules, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
