Sertoma is currently seeking Full-Time Direct Support Professional (DSPs).

We are seeking candidates who desire a family work environment with a passion to serve those who are less fortunate. Our DSPs are responsible for the health and welfare of the residents in our care while ensuring a "family" type home atmosphere.

The direct support professional serves as a caregiver to our people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our DSPs perform a variety of tasks for our persons supported in well maintained homes owned and managed by Sertoma. As a DSP you will aid our persons served by providing them with compassionate care, encouragement and instruction throughout their day-to-day life. Sertoma offers a manageable workload by assigning no more than 4 individuals to a direct support professional.

Direct Support Professional Job Responsibilities:

DSPs are responsible for the care of 1 to 4 persons supported at a time.

• Performs personal and health care related tasks with persons served such as basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, ambulation, medical monitoring, etc.
• Handles and documents confidential information
• Ensures persons served safety by maintaining a safe environment
• Fosters a positive relationship between caregiver and person served
• Accompanies persons served to scheduled appointments

Direct Support Professional Qualifications / Skills:

• Communication (verbal and written)
• Flexibility through adapting to an ever-changing work environment
• Leadership capabilities
• Capable of handling certain physical aspects such as bending, lifting and standing

Direct Support Professional Employment Requirements:

• No prior DSP or caregiving experience needed
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 5 years of verifiable work history
• 3 years clean driving history with a valid Tennessee driver's license
