Star Construction, LLC is a growing national telecommunication company looking for Digging Equipment Operators to join our team! Digging or trenching equipment operators can operate a variety of equipment, used in installation/repair/maintenance activities associated with underground utilities, in a safe and effective manner. Position consists of general heavy equipment operation for construction. Digging or trenching equipment operators can operate a variety of equipment, used in installation/repair/maintenance activities associated with underground utilities, in a safe and effective manner.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

Safely operates trenching or digging equipment on jobsite which may include but not limited to the following: Plow, Chain Trencher, Backhoe / Excavator, Rock Saw, Dozer / Lead Tractor, Tractor Trailer (Moving Equipment / Haul Water)
Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the jobsite
Dig pits, trenches or potholes as directed by job plan including windows when crossing utilities
Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
Load and unload tools, materials and equipment on truck
Will be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic.
May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed

Qualifications:

Must be experienced with Digging/trenching equipment and understand their capabilities and limitations
Basic ability to use small tools/hand tools.
Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules and operating instructions
Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Must be able to proficiently use locators to safely identify utilities
Must have good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Must be very safety conscientious
Must be able to effectively communicate with crew, customers and vendors

Preferred Qualifications:

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's license with tanker endorsement
Previous construction experience or utility construction experienced

Physical Requirements:

Climb up and down ladders, machinery, and other objects.
Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance
Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift
Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed
Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
Employees may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals as well as moving machinery parts and pieces.
Remote work may be required; long driving and sitting will be required
The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate
All work is outdoors so employees in this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
