Stony Creek Essential Oils , is a family owned progressive company that has been producing mint oils for over 50 years. We strive to be leaders in our industry in quality and efficiency. We currently employ 6 full time, 2 part time and 8 seasonal employees.
We re hiring a Diesel Mechanic Fabricator for our operation in St. Johns, MI (25 minutes north of Lansing). In this role you will be mostly performing service, maintenance, and fabrication on equipment. Based on season you will also assist with operating equipment and inventory.

What you will be doing:
Maintenance
We re hiring a Diesel Mechanic Fabricator for our operation in St. Johns, MI (25 minutes north of Lansing). In this role you will be mostly performing service, maintenance, and fabrication on equipment. Based on season you will also assist with operating equipment and inventory.

What you will be doing:
Maintenance
- Maintain our line of diesel tractors ranging from 15 horsepower to 420 horsepower.
- Changing of fluids at prescribed intervals
- General maintenance (typically excluding engine overhauls and transmission work)
- Troubleshooting Electrical, Hydraulic, and Mechanical systems.
- Replacement of worn or broken parts
- Fabricating new mint equipment
- Making changes to existing equipment
- Machinery Operation ( seasonal, typically between the months of April through November).
- Tillage work
- Planting grain crops and mint
- Fertilizing
- Harvesting
- Irrigation
- Distillation
- To reduce down time and increase operating efficiency, we typically stock 1 year s worth of wear parts and filters. This inventory maintenance is important to the success of our operation.
- Typical Stock Inventory would be:
- Filters for engine oil, fuel, etc.
- Shovels for tillage equipment
- Wear parts for harvesting equipment
- Fuel, oil, antifreeze, and grease
- Welding and cutting supplies
- General shop hardware and parts
- In addition to stocking parts in the shop, you will be responsible for general shop organization and cleanliness
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Basic Hydraulic systems and troubleshooting skills
- Basic Electrical systems and troubleshooting skills
- Basic Engine and transmission troubleshooting skills
- Necessary fabrication skills:
- Welding steel using mig and arc welder
- Welding aluminum using a mig welder
- Cutting steel
- With oxygen acetylene torch
- Band saw
- General layout and construction knowledge
