JOB TYPE: Full-time

LOCATION: VA US (Primary)

JOB DESCRIPTION: VAE is working on a project that tackles the problem of managing large-scale IT networks. We are seeking talented and highly motivated engineers to join us in bringing this project to a larger audience.

You would be responsible for helping to build and maintain development infrastructure using Kubernetes and other cloud services in support of the wider development team, as well as being called upon to advise other teams about server administration and application deployments, in order to help build a web-based product that assists network engineers in managing large-scale networks. Work is conducted in small teams of 3 to 5 people using agile team processes.

Our product is a .NET Core application (with some TypeScript and Python components) running on Docker and backed primarily by PostgreSQL, that serves both a web frontend and REST API. The application source is hosted in GitLab, and we use merge requests and GitLab CI to manage our code contribution workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS: Things we really need

• Experience with Linux server administration and application server operations
• Experience with infrastructure/administration tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Experience with a major cloud provider like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with Kubernetes administration and maintenance
• United States citizenship
• 10+ years of experience

Things we want too

• Familiarity with centralized logging and monitoring platforms and tools like the ELK stack, Grafana, or Prometheus
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Familiarity with web architecture and general web application concepts
• Familiarity with distributed version control (Git)

Things that are extra cool

• Specific experience with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux ecosystem
• Experience with security standards and system/application security hardening (STIG, static analysis, vulnerability analysis, etc.)
• Experience with other scripting languages, particularly PowerShell
• Experience with Docker and Docker Compose
• Understanding of network concepts
