We have an exciting opportunity for a Development Engineer in our Bloomfield, CT office. This position will research, develop and design proprietary materials and processes for bearing applications to meet customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and executes all aspects of research and development involving proprietary materials and processes, including design, prototyping, testing (verification and validation), risk management and documentation.
- Redesigns existing proprietary materials and processes to improve quality, utilize automated production techniques, optimize process capabilities, and produce better products in a more cost-effective manner.
- Plans and technically leads multiple projects utilizing project plans and schedules to track and communicate developments from prototype design through testing and into production. Formulates decisions to facilitate project advancement independent of supervisor.
- Interfaces with Marketing and Engineering personnel to understand customer preferences/requirements and establish design criteria for new products and product improvements. Advises Engineering and Manufacturing personnel on technical aspects of proprietary materials and processes.
- Leads, conducts and/or participates in design and technical reviews. Provides direction to Manufacturing personnel with the transfer of development projects into full-scale production.
- Actively researches cutting-edge technology trends involving self-lubricating bearings, surface engineering, advanced materials, and related specialty manufacturing processes to support new product development.
- Maintains clean and safe work environment. Contributes to 5 S programs in work area. Follows safety and environmental procedures and processes. Reports safety incidents to supervisor.
- Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Accomplishes related results as needed.
Education:
- BS degree in Materials/Metallurgy/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering.
- 3 years of experience working with advanced materials and processes in engineering, research, or product development in a manufacturing environment.
