Job Overview

Job Summary: Create designs of aircraft interior products ranging from but not limited to: bins, galleys, lavatories, ceiling panels or seats used in commercial and private aircrafts using a computer aided drafting system and support existing designs of products which are manufactured on site. While creating new designs, considerations of certification, composites/general material selection due to weight restrictions in aircrafts and ease of manufacturing is necessary. Product designs range from basic interiors products used in regional aircraft, commercial airlines, first class and high end private jets products.

Duties: Produce innovative, intelligent designs (drawings) for on site production in a timely manner with respect to the project schedule, while optimizing ease of manufacturing, cost, weight and function; Develop quality designs and evaluate cost, weight, and ensure the design is producible within the time constraints of a project; Design to mandatory regulatory requirements, customer and company specifications; Produce accurate drawings, preliminary layouts, production details and assembly drawings while meeting drawing release dates; Produce ECNs (Engineering Change Notice) as required to support manufacturing, customers, quality and certification; Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product designed; Act as a shop liaison during initial production of new product designs to prevent and/or solve any engineering issue that may arise; Identify problems and seek solutions.; Verify, check and sign off on co-workers engineering drawings; Examine suppliers lead times, costs and availability for parts and tooling necessary to manufacture the product being designed.

Experience: 3-6 years

Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills
Builds knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
Solves a range of straightforward problems
Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures
Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction

Education: BS in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Computer Skills: MS Office Suite, MS Windows, AutoCAD, Catia V5

Other Skills: Understanding of aircraft trim and finish practices, basics of airworthiness requirements for passenger aircraft, and mechanical systems and strengths of materials.
nterfaces with external and internal customers to develop and maintain wire harness detail, installation, and bundle assembly. Under general supervision creates solutions for 2D and 3D wire harness installation designs and incorporates changes to design plan. Performs less complex design change incorporation as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains Wire Harness physical design and installation (e.g. 3D wire harness installation models, wire harness assembly models and 2D formboard drawings)
Perform assigned tasks meeting the organization's expectations for quality, schedule and process compliance
Collaborates and coordinates with customer to develop design solutions
Confers with more experienced designers and other subject matter experts to develop solutions to complex problems, which require ingenuity and innovation
Ensures compliance to design requirements
Supports analysis and design reviews
Identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools and provides solutions
Applies program technical requirements to design work requirements, processes, and tasks
Designs optimization through commonality, cost, weight, producibility, and maintainability of design
Develops solutions to problems, which require ingenuity and innovation.
Communicates and/or implements design solutions, integrating design changes as needed
Communicate and facilitate the implementation of 2D and 3D Wire Harness physical design and installation between internal and external customers.
Participate in common change process and engineering work statement definition.
Investigates and may resolve design issues
Regular, predictable attendance is required

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent (preferred)
4 - 7 years of experience in an engineering classification
2 year CAD design required (Typical)
2 years Electrical/Mechanical design or installation
1 year Aerospace industry (preferred)

Knowledge/Skills
Ability to effectively communicate and work within a team environment
Exercises latitude in determining technical solutions
Ability to make decisions applicable to job level and responsibilities
Proficient knowledge of engineering principles, theories, technologies, and concepts in assigned discipline
Working knowledge of configuration management
Understanding of product lifecycle management
Capability to integrate overall System/Airframe designs
Understanding of design requirements flow, validation and compliance verification
Able to understand technical data and capable of resolving less complex design issues by means of problem solving methodologies
2D and 3D CAD design - CATIA v5 or Creo
Knowledge of MS Office computer applications
Fluent in English (Written and verbal)
