DEFINITION
The City of Easthampton is seeking to fill the position of Building Custodian. Position is responsible for interior cleaning of city buildings and preventative maintenance of building systems, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing. Provides grounds care for city buildings, including lawn mowing and snow removal. Responds to building-related emergencies. All other related work as applicable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS _(responsibilities include but are not limited to): _
Clean washrooms and empty trash on a daily or more frequent basis.
Sweep floors and vacuum carpets daily.
Wash floors and windows on a regular schedule and as needed.
Clean common areas and offices, empty trash, and vacuum.
Inspect lighting and change bulbs.
Trim and cut grass as needed, assist with general outdoor maintenance.
Clear snow and ice from walkways, ramps, and steps.
Make minor repairs to walls and woodwork, floor tile and carpet, and plumbing and electrical fixtures; notify the DPW Director of significant damages and repairs needing attention.
Perform odd jobs such as assisting with moving office furniture and equipment.
Help coordinate and direct routine and emergency work assigned to outside vendors.
Coordinate and work in concert with other Building Custodians and Senior Building Custodian.
Respond to building emergencies, such as heating system failures, and take appropriate action within the Director of Public Works guidelines.
All other related work as the situation dictates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent; one to three years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator License
