CEC Controls- a Wood business is currently seeking a Controls Engineer / Engineering technician to join our team in the Denver, Colorado office. The

Wood Automation and Controls is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team in the Portsmouth, VA office. The Engineer will support all electrical design functions related to Water-Wastewater, Automotive and Bridge Controls. Demonstrated trouble shooting skills are absolutely necessary.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with solid experience as a systems integrator, who is looking for career growth with a major organization.

Responsibilities:

• Create electrical schematics from customer specifications and update schematics per assembly red-lines
• Specify and size electrical parts based on calculations, customer specifications, and engineering principals
  
• Create accurate BOMs corresponding to electrical schematics
  
• Interpret customer specifications and Scope of Work documentation to design a system that meets all customer requirements
  
• Analyze controls P&ID's
• Program and Troubleshoot / debug electrical machine controls component selection
  
• Hardware design such as panel layout or industrial controls required
  
• Assist electrical technicians in the construction of electrical equipment
• Follow all company processes, check lists, and support the development of standardized design platforms

Skills / Qualifications

• BS in Computer Engineering, electrical engineering or 5 years equivalent experience in Automation Programming of PLC's
  
• 3-5 years of PLC and HMI programming experience using Siemens, Rockwell, GE and/or Emerson Micro PLC's
  
• Electrical design of Control Systems
  
• Electrical Controls and PLC Logic for Motor Pump systems in Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants
  
• Variable Frequency Drive experience in design and startup
  
• Specifying and sizing electrical parts based on calculations, customer specifications, and engineering principals
  
• AC and DC power and control
  
• Designing and debugging Data Acquisition systems (SCADA)
  
• Selection and implementation of PC's and PLC's for controlling and recording data for industrial control systems
  
• Power-up, Debug, and Calibration of Water/Wastewater or Automotive Control Systems
  
• Knowledge of US and International electrical codes (NEC and IEC)
  
• Electrical journeyman license or equivalent experience is a plus
  
• Travel up to 25%
  
• Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required
  

Physical Requirements:

• Able to climb a 2 story ladder
• Can walk a mile in 20 minutes
• Be able to cover, on foot, a reasonable distance on a job site
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs without difficulty
• All of the above items to be accomplished while carrying a laptop computer
