POSITION SUMMARY
Our stores are the best representation of our brand and who we are; it is usually the first impression our customers will have of us. It is critical that our stores are built with a consistent vision but each retaining a unique character of its own.
The Store Design + Construction & Facilities is responsible for all new and existing Oak + Fort store design and construction projects. This includes all phases of the project from schematic design stages through to construction documents and project administration while honoring budget, schedule, and operational requirements.
The ideal candidate works well in a team environment, has an understanding of the Oak+Fort brand aesthetics, and in addition to required skills, brings both energy and openness to learning and growing in our quickly expanding company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following sectionsare applicable to both new store developments and existing store improvements or renovations.
- Manage new store opening construction projects and existing store improvements and ensure all project deliverables are met.
- Oversee portfolio of projects from site identification through the design and construction process, delivering to key milestones and metrics while staying within the approved financial plan
- Lead the learning and development aspect of the team and projects to ensure the team is ready to scale for the future growth of the business. Including, but not limited to, team meetings, 1:1s, performance reviews and feedback as needed.
- Close collaboration with Director of Store Development, as well as cross-functional partners, to ensure internal and external resources are allocated appropriately and processes are efficient.
- Personally manage 3-5 projects at a time to stay close to construction documents and the requirements needed to execute projects successfully.
- Preliminary approval of all project schedules and budgets prior to final leadership approval.
- With the design team, participate in bi-annual architect/engineer/GC/vendor review meetings to ensure drawings are up to date per current brand standards and building requirements.
- Work with internal partners for plan approvals, including value engineering efforts when projects are trending over the approved budget in various phases of design prior to starting construction. Review project scope, schedule and financial reporting to mitigate overall negative impact to the company.
- Responsible for estimating, as well as review of project management team's estimates, for all new stores, optimizations, renovations and relocations throughout the US and Canada to ensure successful coordination of efforts and completion of objectives to support company initiatives prior to monthly Real Estate meetings as well as various budget check-ins throughout the project timeline.
- Travel to job sites, as necessary, to ensure projects are on time, on budget and as per design. Meet with city inspectors, landlord management, internal teams and outside vendors to ensure a successful store opening.
- Maintain impeccable records on shared drive budget, vendor orders, contracts, schedules, etc.
- Maintaining strong relationships with cross-functional partners to consistently develop and evolve associated processes
- Oversee transactional vendor relations (scope development, bidding, PO's, vendor deliverables, invoicing)
- Proactively identify, prioritize, and drive resolution of issues and risks
- Producing and maintaining various project reports
- Create and manage a culture of personal development and continuous improvement
- Delivering additional projects, duties, and assignment as required and/or by request by the Director of Construction
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalents from a 4-year college, 6+ years project management experience within a retail construction environment or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in creating/managing a portfolio of projects from identification through to project close-out
- Experience managing construction budgets, value engineering conversations and negotiating change orders
- Must be versatile and able to manage multiple projects in various stages at any one time in the life cycle of a project
- Practiced in store development processes, vendor management, client relations
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Project, Sharepoint
