Job Overview

Construction Cost Specialists provide support to Procurement team and is responsible for reviewing construction AIA billings for accuracy, determining contractor compliance, resolving contractor and vendor payment issues or discrepancies. They communicate and collaborate with different organizations within the company (Accounts Payable, Finance, Internal Audit, Construction Management, Application Developers, etc.) to identify and improve any processes or system issues that can lead to risk. Review construction pay applications, as well as CAPX and site services invoices, for accuracy, contract compliance, and funding allocation. Approximately 300-800/wk volume depending on site activity. Requires knowledge of AIA billing as well as standard invoicing practices, and State/program tax rules for Gigafactory Texas. Manage Gigafactory accounts payable inbox, about 100-150 actionable items per day: Answer billing inquiries from internal staff and external vendors Perform account reconciliations Solve invoicing problems with staff, vendors/contractors, corporate AP office, and IT Work with construction buyers and managers to resolve PO/invoice funding discrepancies as they arise. Provide current statements of account and funds reporting as needed. In conjunction with the Contracts Compliance Administrator, develop processes for tracking construction progress billing documents, such as lien waivers, retention, and project closeout documentation per industry best practices, State industry regulations, and State compliance requirements. Communicate construction billing expectations to new contractors during site on-boarding meetings and provide additional training as needed. Explain and enforce tax incentive requirements mandated by State of NV to vendors and internal staff. Collaborate with the corporate AP team to improve invoicing/payment processes, and provide training for Gigafactory-specific invoice requirements. Communicate issues to AP and IT when system or process changes interrupt work cycle or deviate from State requirements; propose solutions. Overall cost management of construction contractors and suppliers at Gigafactory Texas Education- Bachelors in Finance/Accounting 2+ years of experience in relevant field Advanced bookkeeping and intermediate accounting skills Experience with construction project billing (AIA documents, lien waivers, retention, multiple compensation strategies) Experience performing QA for data entry or invoicing Succinct and informative communication style, verbal and written Keenness for finding process or system faults that could lead to risk, and methods to correct/solve Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
