We work on projects like airports, gas plants, wind farms, heavy highway, treatment plants, commercial, municipal water/storm/sewer utilities and many other cool infrastructure projects that keep America moving!

Wage: $32-$35 per hour

About the Position: The certified Concrete Finisher will lay, smooth, and finish poured concrete surfaces for heavy civil construction sites. Projects may include building foundations, sidewalks, curbs, roads, and gutters.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Determine concrete consistency, and finish per plan specifications of the project.
• Plans project and drying time to ensure that concrete will dry and cure correctly; monitors weather and wind throughout the process to ensure proper curing.
• Builds and uses forms to shape concrete to specified levels and consistencies.
• Uses a variety of tools and equipment, such as curbing machine, straight-edges, floats, rakes, shovels, trowels, and brooms, to spread, level, smooth, and finish concrete and surface.
• Casts expansion joints and edges as needed.
• Mounts fixtures, such as anchor bolts, steel plates in freshly poured concrete.
• Levels and evens surface as needed by chipping, scraping, and grinding uneven spots or ridges using power or hand tools.
• Cleans surface, tools, and surrounding area thoroughly.
• Performs other general construction duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of the characteristics of concrete and ability to make plans based on that knowledge.
• Ability to create, lay, and use concrete forms.
• Understanding of and ability to use tools related to cement.
• Ability to understand basic math
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to create a variety of surfaces for various purposes.
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment.

Education and Experience:

• Must have valid ACI Concrete Finisher certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have at least 3 verified years of concrete finishing experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
• Must be able to independently lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to work in extremely noisy areas, such as construction sites.
• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
