Job Overview
Summary:
The Communications Manager will oversee all communications involving the organization, including the development and implementation of a communications strategy and a broad and diverse range of business, mergers & acquisitions, and employee communications. The Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing both internal and external communication strategies. This role is responsible for many organizational and creative tasks to standardize and improve the communication efforts of the Company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with executive leadership to ensure the mission statement and corporate values stay relevant
- Develops and implements a communications strategy for the corporation that builds and maintains a positive corporate brand
- Manage direct and indirect resources to execute on communication tasks
- Oversees corporate communications in various online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and all other social media platforms and company websites
- Provides consistent and timely information to employees through various communications programs
- Responsible for developing and implementing a successful and repeatable integration communications strategy for future mergers & acquisitions.
- Responsible for setting up the communications plan and structure for change and transformation initiatives and providing best practice guidance to teams
- Work with M&A team on integration projects to ensure a welcoming, consistent, timely and engaging introduction to the Company
- Ensure coordination with internal functions such as HR, IT and Marketing (amongst others) to support overall objectives during the M&A integration process
- Acts as corporate spokesperson and responds to members of the media in a timely manner; composes and distributes press releases as needed
- Assists executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important corporate messages
- Provides suggestions concerning graphics, clarity, distribution, and press releases to departments for preparation of board meetings and presentations, as needed
- Develops, implements, and adheres to communications budget
- Develops, composes, distributes, and implements polices to enhance the efficiency of the communications department and to further develop the building and maintaining of a positive corporate brand
- Maintain current style guides and brand voice outlines for all public relations, marketing, advertising, and other vital departments
- Consult with executive management to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations and/or crises
- Write letters, interdepartmental communications, and other business correspondence
- Develop materials to educate staff on communication practices
- Coach and assist team members on improving communication skills
- Perform communications research and monitor progress of various communications strategies
- Seeks new methods and creative strategies to increase internal and external awareness of key events and changes in the organization, including mergers and acquisitions, the launch of new processes and procedures, special events, local community service, and other topics of interest
- Represents the company in a variety of settings, always promoting the company in the best possible way
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert in written, spoken, and visual communications and ability to clearly articulate messages across multiple channels
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Superior ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for corporate and internal publications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related communication software

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- At least five (3+) years of experience in communications field required
- Prior experience in internal employee communications writing required
- Prior experience of people management strongly preferred
- Prior experience with mergers & acquisitions communication integration writing preferred
- Experience in HVAC Industry or other service business preferred
Physical requirements:
- Continuously able to work in office environment
- Continuously able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, telephone, and computer printer
- Continuously able to sit at a computer for up to 8 hours
- Able to alternate between sitting and standing, as needed throughout the day
