National Grid Ventures is hiring a Commercial Lead Strategy Analyst. The location of the position is in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose
The Commercial Strategy Analyst will:

Support development of offtake proposals for Requests for Proposals. Provide insight and analysis of renewable project viability in U.S electricity markets across the northeast. Use electricity market modeling and market analysis to support valuation, strategic decision making, and risk appraisals associated with a variety of renewable energy, transmission, and energy storage projects. The overall goal of this team-oriented role will be to enhance the company's ability to develop and commercialize competitive energy projects in the U.S. Northeast to meet company energy transition objectives. The current focus is the development of National Grid's Community Offshore Wind project(s) in the NY Bight.

Key Accountabilities
• Manage the development of competitive bid proposals into state OREC/PPA solicitations, including the evaluation of state OREC solicitation criteria, and cross-workstream coordination and creation of proposal submittal materials and document review.
• Monitor and manage competitive landscape for industry and market developments; contribute to strategic planning and positioning in light of evolving competitive opportunities
• Work with commercial and financial analysis to conduct valuation and commercial impact analyses of emerging investment and RFP (Request for Proposal) opportunities
• Gather and prepare information on projects to facilitate risk evaluation and decision-making
• Utilize market, competitor, and customer intelligence to support relevant teams in the development and enhancement of development opportunities
• Plan priority research and development areas with relevant teams and identify and prioritize key stakeholder groups and individuals according to the project development phase
• Identify the value chain for National Grid's proposition and develop the business model options to enter the market
• Identify, design, and implement developments to applicable contractual, commercial and regulatory arrangements. Support the introduction of new services and/or providers to meet the changing requirements
• Research external content, identifying and implementing an approach to increase industry presence
• Carry out tasks as described above in project-specific roles as part JV project organizations and in such role reports to applicable work package, workstream, project manager of the respective project(s).

Qualifications
• Minimum: Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience;
• Detail-oriented, quantitative & analytical skills, team-player, with solid communication skills
• Experience working with or in the power sector or strategy projects in a consulting or corporate work environment a plus;
• Ability to translate data, competitive intelligence, and model outputs into business insight & articulate impact of results on the business;
• advanced writing/power point story-telling skills
• Some knowledge of US power industry structures, policies, regulations & market fundamentals, including common revenue structures and LMP (Locational Marginal Price) formation;
• Familiarity with recent trends in conventional generation, offshore wind, energy storage, transmission & distributed generation.
