The Commercial Construction Estimator is responsible for generating viable estimates to incorporate into official proposals and represent the company in all estimating relationships to produce realistic budgets and preliminary schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interacts with the owner, brokers and project management team, providing input and advice to mitigate risks
• Designs the technical piece of the project contract including scope of work, budget and preliminary schedule
• Responsible for laying out the ground work for the project to be financially successful
• Responsible for having a project strategy that a Project Manager can execute
• Perform bid walks, compile bid notes and put together RFIs
• Conduct building surveys and compile Property Condition Reports
• Participate in actual to budget cost reviews

Education/Experience:

• Degree in Construction Management preferred
• Some project management experience helpful
• Some general accounting experience beneficial
• 2-4 years of commercial construction estimating experience with a college degree
• 6 plus years of commercial construction estimating experience without a degree

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge:

• Thorough understanding of commercial building construction assemblies, estimating technologies, company procedures, etc.

• Excellent documentation, math and communication skills
• Highly organized/attention to detail
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to work with constant interruptions
• Ability to work with a variety of people
• Ability to prepare a cost effective budget
