Job Functions and Responsibilities

Prepare compliance documentation for regulatory agencies and develop design solutions.
Reports, calculations and engineering specifications for dams and water retaining structures.
Support a centralized dam safety team with a staff knowledgeable in civil, structural, hydraulics/hydrology and geotechnical engineering. Maintain team commitment to customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, stakeholder collaboration and professional excellence.
Promote a culture of dam safety throughout the entire organization. Serve as a Key member of NYPA's Dam Safety and Civil Works Committee.
Motivate and mentor staff
Inspections, condition assessments, startup and testing, troubleshooting, calculations, design, preparation of detailed fabrication/construction drawings and specifications, inter-discipline and inter-department coordination, engineering support during construction and outage, and equipment/system evaluations for mechanical systems
and equipment

Skills

Strong geotechnical, water resources and hydraulic engineering experience related to dam safety compliance for hydro-electric power plants. Working knowledge of FERC regulations.

Strong technical writing skills required.

Education and Certifications

BSCE in Civil/Structural, Geotechnical or Hydraulic Engineering. NYS Professional Engineer Certification.
Preferred:
Advanced degree in Geotechnical Engineering
