Your Opportunity We are seeking qualified candidates for a Civil or Geotechnical Engineer in Training position in our Denver office. This role will support the Mining Business Line with geotechnical and civil design/construction projects. The primary focus of this position is to serve U.S. and International-based natural resources clients (primarily mining) with the design, monitoring and reclamation of mine facilities (i.e. heap leach, stormwater control infrastructure, tailings storage facilities, waste rock management structures, etc.). This position will require a dynamic individual who can assist with developing and performing site investigations, and conducting geotechnical designs, calculations, and technical reports. This position interacts throughout the organization internally and externally with clients and members of business and professional organizations. Travel may be required. Your Key Responsibilities Following safe work practices and adhering to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. Assist with developing preliminary budgets, project scope, and schedules. Assist with developing, overseeing, and interpreting civil/geotechnical field investigations and laboratory testing programs; primarily focused on mining projects. Support civil/geotechnical design using modeling software (such as GeoStudio, RocScience, Plaxis, FLAC). Preparing technical memoranda and detailed reports pertaining to field investigations and design studies. Assist with preparing proposals and preparing and giving presentations. Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Exceptional technical writing skills, organizational skills, technical leadership abilities, oral communication skills, and attention to detail. Experience in geotechnical modeling software, e.g., FLAC, Plaxis, is a plus. Experience in computer programming languages, e.g., R, Python, is a plus. Ability to work independently and make decisions in the office and in the field at remote sites. MSHA and/or OSHA training will be required. Education and Experience Minimum of a B.S. in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering with preference to advanced degrees. 0-4 years of experience working on civil and/or geotechnical engineering projects, focusing on detailed design, site investigation, numerical modeling, and technical communication.
