Job Overview

As our Chemical Plant Shift Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the daily safe operation of a specific rotating shift of operators. Responsibilities also include adherence to the production schedule and ensuring that the finished products are available to be shipped to the customer on time. This a collaboration through the safe and efficient teamwork of production resources such as production and maintenance employees, equipment, materials, and time and by using structured problem-solving techniques, sound statistical methods, and proven operational systems.

You'll play a key role leveraging your leadership skills in communicating business goals, programs, and process. You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and your team, and affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

In addition, you will:
  • Promote a safe working environment with exceptional leadership in all the company Environmental, Health and Safety Programs. Support our local Emergency Response Team as the Incident Commander, as necessary.
  • Be responsible for time and attendance management, performance reviews and conflict resolution for production employees within your assigned shift.
  • Ensure assigned employees are aware / comply with all WTS, government, customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that resources committed to executing the production schedule will meet the customer requirements and meet the internal business metrics, such as productivity, overtime costs, and SOP compliance. Support the implementation of 5S and provide continuous improvement leadership.
  • Champion the day-to-day, shift specific, coordination of all cross functional departmental actions to facilitate working together to address production delays, quality excursions, or equipment outages.
  • Troubleshoot production problems, whether process or material issues, and be available to assist in implement corrections through required change control to minimize impact to production and eliminate root cause.

Core Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in hazardous chemical production
  • Previous leadership, with responsibility for PSM regulated chemical units or plants, preferred.
  • Established leader, with impressive results in continuous improvement, production management, quality, maintenance prioritization, shutdown preparation, etc., preferred.
  • Understanding of chemical processing and material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, and standard cost systems.
  • Good employee relations skills, including coaching and communication and demonstrated ability to train and mentor production employees.
  • Working experience operating in a facility under the OHSA Process Safety Management program or Risk Management Program for Hazardous Chemicals.

Other Useful Skills & Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University is a plus!
  • Experience with Management of Change processes including P&ID and documentation updates, triggering MOC's, etc.
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent Quality training preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise business systems; SAP preferable.
