Job Overview
ESP Associates, Inc. (ESP) is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform inspection services related to structural steel construction for commercial building projects. In addition, it is desired for the individual to perform inspections related to other construction materials (concrete, masonry, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Review and understand project related drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes
- Perform inspections and testing of welded and bolted connections of structural steel in the field for project document and code compliance
- Perform Special Inspections related to other construction materials (concrete, masonry, etc.) in the field for project document and code compliance
- Perform routine and advanced field tests in accordance with ANST, ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, DOT, or other standards
- Document observations and inspections of construction including discrepancy notices for non-compliant items
- Communicate effectively with ESP project managers and engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor's representatives, and others, as applicable, regarding testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results
- Report inspections and test results through ESP's field data collection software
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or Associate Degree required
- Three or more years of experience in inspection and construction observations of structural steel
- American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
- American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification in more than one of the following areas: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT) would be beneficial
- ICC Certifications in sprayed fire proofing, concrete or masonry would be beneficial
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy.
