Job Overview
Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. FM- Construction & Renovation Services (CCR), Architectural Trades team has an exciting opportunity for a Carpenter Supervisor who supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service to the University's buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. The incumbent should be a team player who can work independently, as well as on a crew. This individual will work on a variety of projects and will perform a wide variety of skilled repair, installation, and maintenance tasks. The incumbent must be familiar with both residential and commercial property maintenance. They will be responsible for ensuring that proper trade methods, techniques, and materials are followed. The incumbent also provides positive leadership in a manner that reinforces the University's commitment to a respectful and inclusive workplace. This is a non-exempt position that will requires the incumbent to be assignable to a call back schedule to perform emergency repair work during off shift hours on occasional evenings and weekends. Duties Include: + Direct skilled and unskilled staff in the maintenance and Renovations of buildings and equipment. + Supervise and train employees that may specialize in carpentry. + Delegate assignments to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects. + Recommend or initiate personnel actions and administer the organization's policies for the department. + Provide information for record-keeping, and management of supply and equipment resources. + Plan and schedule projects, building and maintenance work, making modifications as necessary. + Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers. + Solve technical problems and keeps current of new products and techniques. + Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations. + In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00 hourly ($54,080,00 - $62,400,00 annually). The successful candidate will pass a background check and health screen. This is a nonexempt, overtime eligible position with UVa benefits () . Qualifications: + Education: High school diploma or equivalent + Experience: A minimum of four 4 years of experience in all aspects of the carpentry operations trade, including two 2 years of supervisory and/or leadership experience required. + Valid Driver's License with a zero or positive points balance is required. Physical Demands: Employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks).
