Under general supervision constructs, erects and repairs wood based structures using carpentry tools and knowledge of carpentry practices and methods. Constructs, erects, and repairs wooden structures such as houses, barns, commercial buildings, garages and similar structures; reads blueprints or sketches or from verbal instructions. Understands local building codes to ensure that structures comply with structural, safety and other regulatory requirements. Operates hand tools and power tools to saw to size, nail, shim, fit and finish wooden construction. Requirements: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two (2) years of carpentry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
