SUMMARY

Bering Straits Development Company, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Carpenter primarily located in Nome, AK.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Self-perform construction tasks as the company needs.
  • Ability to work in an individual setting and a team setting
  • Work with the project superintendents & Foreman to assist in construction tasks specifically re-finishing the BSNC Old-Federal buidling, equipment operation, and other duties as assigned related to BSDC operations.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.     Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)

    • Carpentry experience
    • Ability to read drawings and understand specifications
    • Ability to operate construction equipment; man lift, skid steer, scissor lift, boom lift, etc..)
    • Must have basic Carpentry tools - Tool Pouch, Tape Measure, Hammer, Square, Steel toe boots or equivilant.

      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

      • Carpentry and General Construction Skills; frame walls, finish drywall,
      • Self-motivated person with the ability to get the job done without a lot of oversight.
      • Knowledge on how to perform other trade scope. (Masonry, Paint, Flooring, etc..)

        Preferred

        • Ability to use the Microsoft Office applications
        • Alaska Dirvers License

              WORK ENVIRONMENT

              Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

              Job is performed on construction sites with exposure to unconditioned spaces, power equipment, and around various other trades. The job is also performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires some use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. Occasional travel may be required.

              SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

              • Position will directly supervise Laborer

                ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

                As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
