Are you goal driven? Then the Peer Mentor position is for you! We are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented individual to join our spirited team.
- Certified Recovery Specialist preferred
Scope of Position: The Peer Mentor will be an advocate and motivator for participants in the Department of Drug and Alcohol Program (DDAP) and connect them to resources. They will model skill building, relationship development, mentoring, self-esteem and goal-setting. The Peer Mentor will support participants during their time in this program, which focuses on individuals in recovery attending a three-phased program consisting of Job Readiness, Placement, and Retention that is designed to adequately prepare them to gain and retain employment.
Essential Functions:
- Establish rapport with individuals in recovery by demonstrating and maintaining clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries
- Mentor activities and assess the participant's progress toward achieving employment and personal goals
- Convince individuals in recovery to participate in and follow through with planned activities as outlined in their Individual Employment Plan (IEP)
- Help participants identify supportive resources in the community that will aid goal completion
- Liaison between participants and other staff members to address concerns and follow-up as needed
- Oversee participants activities and assist with workshop schedules
- Develop creative solutions to participants attendance problems
- Ensure positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract
- Maintain participant files as specified by contractor
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Education related to business, education, human resources or related area is preferred, but not required
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Certified Recovery Specialist preferred
- A desire to help individuals in recovery
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
