Job Overview

Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to perform the design, programming and commissioning of temperature control and building automation systems. The Building Controls System Specialist will work with the Sales staff, Installation & Service Technicians, and Managers to meet the needs of our Customers while maintaining cost and quality controls.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

Maintain positive communications with all customers and potential customers to facilitate growth and opportunity
Program, commission, and troubleshoot temperature control and building automation systems
Create and modify graphics necessary for building automation systems
Ability to perform and document start up and commissioning of controls systems
Effectively work with mechanical start up and test & balance personnel
Must have basic knowledge of mechanical systems such as central plants and VAV air systems
Ability to diagnose mechanical systems and controls
Assist in design and layout of control systems
Understand electrical systems, appropriate codes, and USE standards
Connect building automation systems via the Internet, modems, and other communication formats
Ability to interface multiple communication protocols such as LON, BACnet, and Modbus
Prepare complete, clear, and concise reports and other required USE paperwork
Manage time and cost budgets per project
Ability to effectively communicate with all parties involved with projects

Education:

Successful completion of technical/vocational schooling or equal industry specific experience

Experience:

Minimum experience of 5+ years with Building Automation Systems
Mechanical Service Industry experience required

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Efficient in Windows, Word, Excel, Visio, Auto Cad, and can learn new software programs
Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external personnel
Demonstrates strong knowledge of mechanical systems and can learn additional building systems as required
Understand electrical systems and appropriate codes
Work with forepersons, technicians, and subcontractors to insure proper installation procedures
Demonstrated understanding of computers, networks, and software
Must have a valid driver s license and provide a clean DMV report covering the past (3) years
Must understand and comply with all safety and OSHA requirements
Niagara Experience Preferred

Physical and/or travel demands:

Able to work overtime and after hours as required
Able to travel and work out of town as required
Ability to sit, stand, use a telephone, keyboard and computer monitor is required
May require occasional bending, stooping, and lifting of files, light office equipment, etc.
