Job Overview

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS
• Performs a manual gas metal arc welding operation to weld hanger and torque rod brackets to axle housings of various sizes.
• Follows process prints, sets up own work, changes set-ups, and checks first piece to verify set-up.
• Performs exacting but not difficult set-ups.
• Moves housings using a hoist from welding fixture to roller conveyor.
• Visually checks weld quality 100%.
• Deslags first pass weld, and changes weld wire as required.
• Detects and reports faulty operation of equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to assigned supervisor.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Observes prescribed safety regulations, gauging frequencies, and other standards of operation and conduct.
• Performs other related duties as directed by assigned supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to stand for an 8-12 hour shift
• Must be able to push/pull with a force up to 65 pounds
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, 50 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to operate material equipment
• Must be able to stoop or bend to move parts, operate material equipment and clean area
• Must be willing to rotate jobs and be able to perform all operations in the department
• Attendance is mandatory and must be on time for work
• Must be willing to work overtime when needed
• Must practice good housekeeping and clean machines and work area
• Must be flexible and willing to perform any task assigned by supervisor
• Must be able to pass background check and meet substance abuse policy
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE OR TRAINING REQUIRED
• MIG Welding Certification
• High School Diploma or GED preferred

- Exposure to high heat
