Summary The Global Building Systems Technology group of MiTek USA Inc., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. is driven to support both our New Market Growth teams as well as our Customer Experience (CX) Engineering Teams to develop cutting-edge technologies and innovative engineering procedures. Our Engineering Process Team is looking for a talented BIM Coordinator - Engineering Process. The BIM Coordinator will aid in the development of new software and setting up projects in Tekla. Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Collaborates with CX Drafting and Detailing Departments and Engineering Process team to scope and implement processes that aid and enhance productivity within the Drafting and Detailing Departments and its downstream customers. Job Responsibilities & Requirements RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop an in-depth understanding of design standards and custom components for use in related structural design. Analyze and interpret various forms of design criteria (e.g., sketches, MiTek project summary data, specifications, customer notes, etc.) for use in design work. Create fabrication drawings for review and customer approval. Thoroughly check and confirm details of all design work for conformance with project specifications meeting MiTek standards, and dimensional feasibility. Provide back-up for other Detailers' work. Provide design models and/or drawings for support of Company proposals and sales efforts, providing support for questions asked by manufacturing, installation and/or customers. Provide end-user support to project utilizing Tekla Structures software in a Tekla Model Sharing environment. Set up and manage new and existing engineering projects within Tekla Structures, including reporting options, rules, and backup systems. Identify potential service-level problems and facilitate solutions. Schedule and prioritize work to accommodate user needs with minimum impact. Identify potential areas for new or revised policies and procedures as well as opportunities to reduce cost while improving end-user satisfaction. Train new hires and end-users to become proficient with Tekla software: foundations, reinforcements, framing design and detailing, miscellaneous steel, drawings, and reports, isometrics, IFC exports for BIM reviews, etc. Performs additional assignments per the Manager's discretion. Occasional travel as needed. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Associate Degree (two-year college or technical school) preferred; Field of study: Architecture, CAD, or Design; or equivalent combination of experience. 3-7 years of experience in a multi-site organization in related industry preferred. 3+ years' experience in Tekla administration and development. 3+ years' experience as a Tekla detailer/drafter. Experience using Tekla Model Sharing, working, and setup. Proficiency in, or ability to learn Tekla Structures and Excel VBA is preferred. Scripting in Revit API, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper knowledge is a plus. C# .net programming knowledge is preferred. Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel. Working knowledge of AutoCAD (familiarity with drawings, ability to read, review and navigate). Relevant engineering and/or construction industry experience is preferred. Strong experience creating complex custom components, creating reports using template editor, API programming preferred. Skilled in creating documentation of procedures. Experience using BIM applications for project coordination is a plus. Knowledge and support of Trimble Tedds, Connect, or Business Center a plus. Highly motivated and self-directed with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Comfort with communicating with all levels internally and externally, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Project management skills necessary to lead projects and drive them to completion effectively and timely. Demonstrated aptitude for analyzing and interpreting data allowing for proposal/development of practical business solutions. Committed to growth mindset and continuous improvement. Ability to make good decisions based on sound judgment. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Ability to understand, learn, and use new technology and systems.
