Description:
The AV Design Engineer has extensive knowledge of architectural, facility and systems design, and the project management process of the network centric audiovisual industry. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the regional sales team and is primarily responsible for providing needs analysis, design, planning, estimating, engineering, and consultation with clients and prospects. The position also supports the sales team in creating proposals, providing preliminary drawings, and required proposal documentation.
Requirements:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the sales team to qualify and close new projects for the company.
Assist Account Executives with Needs Analysis requirement definition.
Define project scope based on requirements and identify any technical risks associated with the project.
Prepare cost estimates for projects based on project design documentation.
Develop AV/IT drawings to clearly indicate construction requirements and details.
Assist the project team with creating budget estimates.
Provide value engineering as needed for client budget achievement.
Assist with required testing and checkout procedures per the specifications.
Provide design and technical support for the duration of each job.
Encourage and participate in continuing education.
Provide guidance, task designation and scheduling for other local engineering staff as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Associate degree in technology or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
4+ years' previous experience providing design and engineering support in AV/IT industry.
Must have AVIXA CTS certification and obtain CTS-D certification within one year of hire.
Must have advanced experience producing AV system drawings and required documentation for inclusion into architectural design packages.
Must have advanced proficiency testing and commissioning AV and IT for AV systems.
Must have the ability to multi-task and manage several different projects at a time.
Must have an advanced problem solving ability.
Must have intermediate working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC).
Must have intermediate working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
Must be an excellent communicator.
Travel for projects as necessary.
Work hours will vary according to individual projects.
