Job Overview

Assists the Watch and Assistant Watch Engineers in the operation and routing operating maintenance of steam, chilled water, and electrical generating equipment for MATEP, LLC, satellite facilities, and utility distribution system. Operates equipment from local control stations and performs regular inspection tours of the plant distribution system, maintains logs, monitors instrument readings and equipment operation, and performs miscellaneous related duties.

Night Shift - 10:00 p.m. to 6:00am (40 hrs/wk) - Monday - Thursday, Sunday

What you'll do:

Assists in the operation and routine operating maintenance of boilers and plant auxiliary including fuel oil, water treatment, cooling water, compressed air, chilled water, condensate and feedwater systems, and related equipment
Performs regular inspection tours of the plant and distribution system including underground tunnels and electrical power systems
Maintains logs and other operating records and advises Shift Supervisor of system problems
Takes corrective action, obtaining advice and direction from Assistant Watch Engineers, Watch Engineers, and the Shift Supervisor, as necessary
Performs routine operating maintenance, including cleaning of equipment and plant work areas
Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices, and perform work in accordance with recognized trade and company standards and, where applicable, local, state, and federal laws
Performs other related duties as required

What you bring:

High School graduate or equivalent
Must have valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Second Class Fireman's License
Minimum 1+ years applicable experience
Valid Massachusetts Driver's License
Requires individual with a high degree of professionalism
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Detail oriented
Ability to take direction
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
A willingness to acquire new skills and utilize technology to streamline processes and problem solve is essential.
Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, email, and word processing software
Microsoft Office 2010 and Windows 2010 preferred
Familiarity with MAXIMO maintenance system

Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE's policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
The position consists of 50% work indoors and 50% work outdoors, outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to use a personal computer, calculator, etc.

Must be able to work in extremes or hot and cold temperatures and inclement weather conditions.
Must be able to tolerate dust and other airborne particles and other materials such as diesel and lube oils.
Under certain conditions while working in the plant, may be required to wear a respirator, and at no time is facial hair permitted.
Required to wear safety equipment and clothing where appropriate.
May require repetitive stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, and carrying; intermittent lifting, and moving up to 65 pound objects alone
May carry and transport up to 50 pounds; and move heavier objects with assistance. Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, high-lifts, and in confined spaces.
