Job Overview
Our Client, an International Automotive Company, is looking for an Vehicle Integration Engineer to join their team in Belmont, CA!
This is a 3 Month Contract With Opportunity To Convert OR Extend!
As the Test Engineer, you will be responsible for testing NAR specific radio/media/connectivity
As the Vehicle Integrations Engineer, you will join the Innovation and Engineer Center team to coordinate and lead the engineering support for vehicle conversions, installation of complex data measuring equipment, electronic configuration management and perform diagnosis of complex faulty pathways across multiple state of the art vehicles bus systems.
You will focus on delivering integrated prototyping environments within a vehicle or test platform to support research and engineering projects.
Responsibilities
o Test Planning and Reporting - (20%
o In-vehicle automotive bus systems message manipulation
o Use extensive skills and experience with tools like CANoe, Wireshark, etc. to identify bus messages, interpret and manipulate them
o Provide proper documentation for message routing and contents according to work done
o Identify innovative approaches to reach research and engineering project goals when prototyping new functionalities in vehicles/test platforms
o Stay up-to-date on VW Group diagnostic tool chain as well as state of the art signal analyzing tools for CAN(-FD), Ethernet/SOME-IP and FlexRay
o Use digital image processing skills to trigger events and messages
o Design, install and troubleshoot measuring technology for Engineering vehicles and validation equipment (e.g. test benches)
o Ideation and development of new log and traces concepts based on state-of-the-art equipment
o Design necessary wiring harnesses and brackets for proper in-vehicle installations
o Setup and properly configure the installed log and trace devices (e.g. data loggers, PLC sniffers, media converters, capture modules)
o Verify proper installation and setup based on trace analysis
o Troubleshoot any identified issues on vehicle's bus systems to narrow down the source of the issue
o Support IECC teams to troubleshoot vehicle messaging issues
o Identify and exclude potential sources of error
o Provide guidance as to where and why vehicle messaging errors appear
o Hold trainings for onsite team members to enhance technical skills amongst testing/validation teams
o Work with suppliers of automobile and testing electronics hardware and software
Required Skills & Experience
o 2-5 years of engineering experience
o Minimum 3 years as an Electronics systems engineer with in-depth automotive bus system experience.
o Bachelor's degree in related field
o Experience with programming/coding preferred
o Valid CA driver's license (or the ability to secure one within 30 days of start)
o Expert know-how in related areas of automotive bus systems/technologies such as LIN, CAN, CAN FD, MOST, Flexray, BroadR-reach (100Base-T1/1000Base-T1), embedded automotive systems
o Expertise in computer network technologies (ISO/OSI model, data packet handling, IP addresses and sub-nets; IPv4; IPv6) incl. communication protocols (e.g. TCP/IP), equipment (routers/switches) and troubleshooting
o Expertise in common vehicle bus analysis tools, e.g. Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, Wireshark, CANape
o Experience in configuring and setting up data loggers, media converters and capture modules
o Hands-on wiring and wire crimping experience (trouble shooting: broken wires, change pinning, use of multi-meters)
o Experience with signal analysis tooling: Oscilloscope and DVM
o Experience with Digital Image Processing
o Experience with automotive/vehicle sensors (e.g. cameras/IP-cameras, LiDAR, radar, USS)
o Knowledge of automotive infotainment/connected car products and services.
