AUTOMATION ENGINEER
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Facilitate and drive change by using technology to improve, streamline the manufacturing process, radically increase productivity, and make it as efficient as possible while still maintaining product quality and adhering to internal protocols and external regulations. The key to success in this role is the ability to work within the organization at all levels utilizing a very "hands on" approach to creating value and buy-in as a lead change facilitator of organizational excellence.
Responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring such technology.
Design and test automation equipment and processes.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests.
Identify quality issues and write reports.
Eliminate defects and errors with product and software development.
Provides training of robotic and automated equipment to designated personnel.
Provides design and engineering support for all manufactured parts to maximize the efficiency and quality of processes.
Promotes continuous improvement activities to reduce waste.
Focuses on safety and ergonomic issues in the production areas by improving processes through automation.
Desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge.
Must have the ability to work well with people and have a broad systems perspective to meet organizational goals.
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE - COMPUTER SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field
5 - 10 years of professional work experience designing, facilitating purchase and installation of robotic welding and assembly equipment.
Certified training in Lean Manufacturing or Theory of Constraints.
Proficiency in maintaining automation equipment.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of AutoCAD required.
Knowledge of SolidWorks preferred.
