Overview / Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting for an Automation Technical Professional to be located in the Seadrift/Victoria, TX area. Employment is contingent on client approval. Due to the nature of the role, we will only consider local, qualified candidates only at this time.

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in Automation Engineering projects in the migration of legacy automation systems for the oil & gas, chemical, and process industries, directly interfacing with our clients.
• Engage in all phases of automation projects, front-end engineering through detailed design, configuration, implementation, startup and commissioning.
  

Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Science with process control experience is required.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in the chemical, plastic, petrochemical, gas/oil, pharmaceuticals, pulp/paper, power/ utilities, and/or paint coatings industry is required. 5+ years is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with the ABB Industrial IT distributed control system (ABB800xA). Experience with other DCS platforms (Honeywell TDC, Experion, Emerson DeltaV, Modicon, Foxboro, Yokogawa, etc.) or Safety systems (Triconex, Honeywell FSC, SM) is a plus.
• Experience in executing control system migration projects.
• Familiarity with Front-End Engineering (FEED) phases, implementation, systems testing, start-up and commissioning of automation projects in the aforementioned industries.
• Background and hands-on experience with systems platforms, operating systems and the interactions between systems, system hardware and architecture.
• Understanding of interactions between DCS and MES, information systems (IS), SCADA, etc.
• Proficient knowledge of P&IDs and instrumentation/control equipment.
• Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, Visio, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Expert written and verbal communication skills
• Must be US citizen or have authorization to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
