RK&K is seeking a motivated and creative Traffic Engineer with three (3) to five (5) years of experience to join our highly successful traffic group in Baltimore, Maryland. As a Traffic Engineer with RK&K you will work alongside and collaborate closely with one of the largest, most talented groups of traffic engineers and transportation professionals in the industry. Under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, you will:

Responsibilities/Functions:

• Perform traffic engineering work on projects ranging from small scale studies and design for isolated intersections to complex solutions for urban arterial networks and major highway systems.
• Perform traffic engineering tasks such as: transportation safety studies, transportation planning studies, and traffic operations analysis
• Complete traffic impact studies, including the development of traffic forecasts
• Use tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS and VISSIM to plan, visualize & analyze traffic-related projects
• Mentor younger Traffic Engineers in best practices and techniques
• Prepare technical reports and presentations
• Communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
• Work closely as part of a team, collaborating effectively with teammates and clients

Requirements/Must Haves:

• At least three (3) years of progressive experience in traffic engineering
• Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skills, including public speaking
• Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual and AASHTO guidelines
• Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic and/or VISSIM

Educational Requirements and Certifications:

• Minimum bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related
• Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam, or the ability to complete within 6 months of employment

Preferred Skills:

• Active P.E. Professional Engineer Registration
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
• Master's degree in civil engineering or related field
• Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual and MUTCD
