Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to be part of our Integration (Build) and Test team in Launch Vehicles at our Chandler, AZ facility.
Job Responsibilities
The candidate will serve as an Integration and Test Associate Mechanical Engineer for the Sentinel Program (and/or on another program, as needed), requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment. Daily responsibilities may require direct contact with sensitive launch vehicle flight hardware and ground support equipment. The candidate may be expected to help develop, plan and/or perform integration and testing activities associated with the assembly of flight hardware, testing of assembled systems and components, or execution/support of live fire tests (static and/or flight) at various facilities or launch ranges. Specific duties may include:

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. - Hands-on integration or testing
- Developing/maintaining procedures
- Incorporating hardware/tooling design changes
- Developing/planning/coordinating integration activities
- Coordinating with suppliers and procurement office
- Creating digital/physical mockups and tools
- Complying with strict aerospace standards
- Supporting live fire static testing and flight test events
- Minimum Education / Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is required.
- Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. Passport for travel
- Candidate must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance; US Citizenship is usually a pre-requisite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to large customer community
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Ability to solve problems, support troubleshooting efforts, drive tasks to completion
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
- Ability to work in a team environment, and lead small projects or teams
- Ability to travel: Travel expectation 25%
- Experience performing formal requirements decomposition and/or verification
- Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering background
- Experience with aerospace standards/guidelines
- Experience with external customer interfacing including meetings, presentations & negotiations
- Experience working with operational hazards such as propulsive devices, pressurized systems, overhead lifting, and high voltage systems
- Knowledge and experience with CAD software and GD&T
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience
