OVERVIEW:
Construction Innovations is seeking highly-organized communicators who are hyper-focused on the details to serve as an Assistant Project Manager (APM). The APM is responsible for managing all Transmittals, Submittals, RFIs, Change Requests and Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs). In addition, they manage project specific material scheduling from design to manufacturing through installation to closeout. The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast paced team environment on multiple projects, have strong computer skills. Basic knowledge of electrical systems and their components is a huge plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating material work packages
- Creating and maintaining project delivery schedules
- Communicating to all project stakeholders delivery date changes and any potential material issues
- Maintaining project logs
- Preparing change requests and coordinating change scope, schedule and cost with customer
- Maintaining project file organization
- Preparing, maintaining, coordinating and distributing all project specific documents
- Maintaining constant and effective communications with internal and external stakeholders and vendors
- Recording issues and submitting them into issue log
- Facilitating weekly project meetings with internal stakeholders and customers while maintaining accurate minutes, including notes and action items
- Assisting Project Managers and Field Engineers in managing projects, subcontracts, suppliers and inspectors to meet construction deadlines and client expectations
- Assisting Project Manager in reviewing project documents and preparing reports, as needed
- Minimum 1 year work experience in construction, manufacturing, and/or engineering industries
- Minimum 1 year electrical field experience is preferred
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to read, understand and interpret project drawings and schedules
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Email and Scheduling software)
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred
- Knowledge of base principles of scheduling, project management for construction, electric materials and manufacturing are a plus
- Prior experience at the Assistant Project Manager level or above including design/build construction work activities preferred
The Assistant Project Manager spends most of their time in an office environment, but may occasionally spend time at the companys manufacturing plant, or at the project site. The office is an open and collaborative space where you will work both independently and with the team. When at the plant, you will be in a more traditional manufacturing environment, with higher noise levels and frequent movement of people and equipment. When on-site, you will be in a construction environment, which may be in fairly remote rural locations, and where you may encounter extreme weather conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
- Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
- Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
- Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to walk and stand. This position may involve infrequent site visits which will require the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof read documents to identify errors.
- Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
- May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
