HDR is looking for an experienced and dedicated environmental scientist to join our growing environmental compliance monitoring practice as an Assistant Environmental Project Manager. The preferred candidate should have experience implementing environmental regulatory compliance programs for complex construction and development projects, preferably in the power sector. The candidate will also have interest is assisting with the management of environmental compliance programs; interacting with multiple stakeholders, including construction managers, regulatory agencies, owner's representatives, and on-site construction and environmental support staff. The position may require managing permit compliance, environmental inspections, biological surveys and monitoring, cultural and paleontological resource monitoring, or other aspects of construction environmental compliance programs for construction projects. The position may also require frequent travel to field offices in remote areas during construction. In addition, the ideal candidate would be expected to participate in the pursuit and capture phases of environmental compliance monitoring projects. Job Duties: Project work includes organizing and executing environmental compliance requirements for construction projects that may include federal, state, and county permitting; stormwater inspections; biological surveys and monitoring; archeological monitoring and investigations; paleontological monitoring; tribal monitoring; and geospatial data management. Work as part of and support the management of a team of technical experts and generalists to provide field and office staff to implement environmental compliance requirements during construction. Participate in coordination with construction staff, project owner's representatives, compliance inspection contractor staff, and federal agency staff. Understanding of roles and responsibilities of all parties in construction completion is critical. Give direction to clerical and technical personnel and organize responses to client and regulator questions on environmental requirements. Work on assignments that require dealing with diverse working conditions, including weather, terrain, and remote locations while in the field. Prepare environmental compliance reports and complete other project reporting requirements. Travel for meetings and/or site visits will be required, both by vehicle and air travel if necessary.
