Assistant Construction Observer CHE, Cheney, KS, US ELL, Ellsworth, KS, US

Kirkham Michael Consulting Engineers is a growing company in need of an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill our full-time Assistant Construction Observer position. This position may be located in either our Ellsworth or Cheney, Kansas Office.

Primary Function:

Observes highway construction work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications. Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards. Maintains daily report of construction inspection activities. Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into master plans. Inspects equipment operation and material on the job site. Interprets specifications as related to materials and workmanship. Assumes responsibility of administering portions of the contract, which includes preparing change orders and pay requests.

Receives supervision from senior-level Construction Services staff/engineer.

Qualifications/Skills:

No experience required but construction related experience and possession of KDOT Inspection Training Certification are a plus. Starting pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

• Basic math skills.

• Valid driver s license with acceptable driving record.

May require week long overnight travel during the work week for this position.
