Position Overview

The Architectural Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the corporate drafting team that supports our Maronda Homes division. This role oversees the drafting department's work, offers guidance, and manages the department's scheduling.

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist and setup all control logs with the Homes Divisions (RFI, Change Orders, Etc.).
  • Attend and prepare for weekly/monthly coordination meetings.
  • Communicate project needs to the staff, homes divisions, and estimating.
  • Communicate the daily, weekly and monthly tasks required to meet project milestones to the project CAD team.
  • Interpreting contract documents using multiple software packages.
  • Oversee the maintenance of home design files, including but not limited to daily home design updates, distribution of current MEP models, and maintain up to date blue prints.
  • Home design and job review (MicroStation/ArchiCAD).
  • QA/QC deliverables prior to distributing to the homes divisions (permits/start requests for multiple states).
  • Review and understand the project requirements in its entirety, especially the special conditions and or any special requirements.
  • Review and understand the project estimate.
  • RFI review and tracking.
  • Site inspection and liaising with field personnel and trade contractors.
  • Upload/Download of drawings to/from internal and external sources.
  • Oversee recruitment efforts to staff project teams with architectural and engineering personnel as needed and provide top-level management for all design and engineering teams.
  • Innovate and develop new standards, policies, and procedures for architectural design and engineering work as necessary to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of RFI's, submittals, and interpreting blueprints/specifications.
  • Knowledge in residential construction as well as mechanical systems.
  • Product / Option knowledge
  • Building code knowledge
  • Engineering ability
  • Home Building component knowledge
  • Basic understanding of estimating and procedures
  • Single and Multifamily design

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree related to Architecture, Engineering, and Construction or equivalent technical training or prior work experience in the building industry.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • 5+ years or coordinating BIM/CADD Projects either as a Residential Builder, General Contractor or Subcontractor.
  • Project Field Experience as a Project Engineer, Superintendent, Installer a plus.
