Job Summary:

The Algorithm & Simulation (A&S) Directorate is responsible for algorithm development including Guidance, Navigation, and Control; radio frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO-IR) Signal Processing; and missile-and-sensor-level Modeling and Simulation for RMD's broad portfolio of projects, programs and products. The Flight Sciences department, within Guidance, Navigation and Control is looking for motivated and dependable engineers with subject matter expertise in aerodynamic design and analysis for missile systems to perform in the role of Aerodynamics Section Lead at our Tucson, AZ location.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • The Aerodynamics Section Lead will have a technical role on at least one program in addition to performing the day-to-day leadership of a group of aerodynamics engineers, with the primary responsibility of ensuring that each employee has suitable work assignments and opportunities for growth and advancement.
  • In this role, you will perform leadership duties including performance development and appraisal, salary planning, manpower planning, career coaching, and ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • You will contribute to the technical oversight of employees, monitor program execution, and provide subject matter expertise in direct support of program efforts and proposal activities.
  • You will model a commitment to our ethics and values and support an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
  • You will be part of the Flight Sciences Department leadership team within the Algorithm and Simulation directorate.

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) additional years of experience.


Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics
  • Minimum eight (8) years of work experience in aerodynamic design, analysis and testing, with at least five (4) of these years in missile systems applications
  • Aerodynamics experience with at least two of the following: subsonic, transonic, supersonic, or hypersonic air vehicles
  • Experience with at least four of the following: vehicle design for stability and control; aerodynamic prediction; wind tunnel testing; aerodynamic model generation; trajectory simulation; flight test planning and data analysis; and aerodynamic uncertainty quantification and modeling; computation fluid dynamics
  • Experience coding in MATLAB and C++
  • An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience with capture effort coordination and developing proposals to obtain funding, spanning technical proposal development, work breakdown structures and cost estimation
