Job Overview

SUMMARY

Serves as a key liaison with the Subaru Corporation (SBR) engineering departments, as well as external stakeholders in promoting SUBARU's competitiveness in the area of Advanced Vehicle Technology. An entry-level position who will be responsible for providing comprehensive trends of Advanced Vehicle Technology in the US market.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors, identifies and summarizes topics related to Advanced Vehicle Technology and traffic safety matters, reporting to SBR engineering departments and North American Subaru, Inc. - Government Regulatory Affairs (NASI-GRA) management. Information sources will be federal agencies' websites (such as U.S. Department of Transportation USDOT , National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA , and Federal Highway Administration FHWA ) for regulatory notices, technical reports, announcements and other topics, as well as key stakeholders' websites, e.g. non-profit organizations, research institutions, and the media. Issues weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports to summarize activities and trends of Advanced Vehicle Technology.
Creates and manages Excel-based database for rulemaking activities and standards, best practices, and guidance related to Advanced Vehicle Technology, in particular Automated Vehicles and Advanced Driving Assist Systems, from NHTSA and other Standards Development Organizations (such as Society of Automotive Engineering SAE and International Standards Organization ISO ).
Represents Subaru at working group-level meetings and issues minutes and key information in a timely manner to report to SBR engineering departments and NASI-GRA management.
Takes lead in identifying roles of infrastructure in Advanced Vehicle Technology areas, especially in Automated Vehicle (AV), Vehicle to Everything (V2X) and Advanced Automatic Collision Notification (AACN) by monitoring and engaging with key stakeholders. Researches status of states' traffic infrastructure, including but not limited to state traffic laws and state-funded projects. This task also includes monitoring related activities at the FHWA. Works with manager to determine how infrastructure and legislation could influence decisions of the organization.
Requests feedback from and seeks advice from internal departments, e.g. Subaru of America (SOA) Information Technology (IT), Legal, Connected Business, NASI Government Affairs (NASI-GA), NASI Safety Engineering (NASI-SE), and Subaru Research & Development - Michigan (SRD-MI), in order to foster internal collaboration with the Advanced Vehicle Technology area. Identifies and gathers relevant information that will affect decisions related to Advanced Vehicle Technology.
Participates in external events/conferences and issues reports in a timely manner to SBR engineering departments and NASI-GRA management

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Self-motivated and capable of identifying needs and executing assignments independently.
Ability to digest extensive technical and policy reports and summarize them in clear and concise manner.
Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and multi-task as needed; must be flexible with assignments as shifting priorities occur.
Strong and professional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders as necessary.
Integrity and discretion required; must maintain highest level of confidentiality.
Preferred educational requirements:
Advanced (Master's) degree.
Degree in engineering (particularly electrical engineering).
