Senior Proposal Engineer (Principal Engineer) - AREVA Solar-SAL00342
AREVA Solar is seeking a Seinor Proposal Engineer for our Mountain View, CA location.  This qualified individual will support the Business Development group.
  • Develop comprehensive technical proposals for Solar Steam Generators (ASME Section 1 Boilers) and associated plant equipment
  • Work with Business Development team to develop customer proposals and  respond to client data requests
  • Develop estimates and other technical data as needed to facilitate sales process
  • Write subcontracted systems including B31.1 Piping, Steam Turbine, Condenser specifications to meet plant design basis
  • Work with engineering firms, EPC companies, and equipment suppliers to facilitate project and equipment specifications and clarifications
  • Participate in client meetings.  Act as technical expert for product.
  • Work closely with AREVA Solar engineering team to apply standards and other technical design basis to specific project applications.  Facilitate client needs and other industry technical knowledge to engineering organization.
  • Function in an estimating role for outside engineered components including values, instrumentation, heat exchangers, and power islands
  • Manage and mentor other proposal engineers
  • Be a driver and advocate for Proposal Team.  A Leader.
  • Various product applications including stand alone power plant design, existing plant enhancements (boosters), and process applications
Moderate: Routine with some international travel required.  Valid USA Passport Required.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Engineering Technology with a minimum of  7-12 years of Power Equipment Proposal or Project Engineering Experience
  • Heat transfer theory, Circulation theory, and general power cycle design experience.
  • Thermal modeling experience with ASME Boilers
  • Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, B31.1 Power Piping
  • Engineering degree (BSMET, BSME, or BSChE) or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience of proposal engineering with Capital projects exceeding $20M in project value
  • Significant exposure to client meetings, negotiations, and contract negotiations
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Strong EXCEL skills.  Database experience desirable
  • Exposure to STAAD or other structural design programs
  • Global supplier interface experience
  • MS Engineering degree, MBA, or PE Certification
