AREVA Solar is seeking a Sales Director, supporting the North America region.  This qualified individual will support the AREVA Solar group located in Mountain View, CA.
 
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sales Director position is ideal for a candidate who is self-driven, is experienced at consultative selling, has excellent presentation and communication skills, and who has a 'whatever-it-takes' approach to work.   The Sales Director is primarily responsible for sales to customers and for creating strategic partnerships. 
 
Responsibilities include the following:
 
  • Closing sales of solar boilers and turn-key solutions to customers.
  • Understanding the solar market and customer's needs.
  • Making presentations to customers on Areva Solar solutions.
  • Creating a sales action plan in line with group goals.
  • Creating a business case, tailored to customer's expressed needs.
  • Working with the proposals group to deliver strong proposals to customers.
  • Pipeline management & prioritization.
  • Regular reporting to AREVA Solar - BD (Business Development) team as well as corporate.
  • Representing AREVA Solar at public events.
  • Creating and maintaining strategic alliances.
  • Working with Areva Key Account Managers to provide comprehensive solutions to key accounts.

 

TYPICAL PROJECTS THIS GROUP MAY WORK ON:
 
AREVA Solar's product is a solar steam generator (boiler) that is scalable in 2.5 MWe (7.5 MWt) increments.   Primary applications for the steam generators are:
  • Steam boosters (producing steam to augment existing power plants).
  • Steam for industrial applications.
  • Power generation (stand-alone) larger 50MWe - preferably 100+ MWe.
  • We offer equipment sales (OEM model) or turn-key facilities through local or regional developers or directly to utilities, IPPs or industrial customers.
 
TRAVEL:
Extensive travel in USA (40-50%); limited international travel.

Qualifications
 
 
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
 
  • BS Degree in Engineering and/or Business Development.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in the power and/or renewable sectors.
  • Successful sales and business development experience.
  • Strong contacts in the renewable, regulatory and power sectors.
  • Strong communication (presentations; internal updates; sales) and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to travel 40-50%.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Comfort in working in a "startup" environment.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Takes initiative "self-starter".
 
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
 
  • MBA preferred.
  • Boiler or turbine background a plus.
  • Team player.
  • Creative and resourceful.

  • Experience with sales management tools (e.g. Siebel).
