Located east of San Diego County, in the Imperial Valley, the Imperial Irrigation District is one of the largest irrigation districts in the United States. The District’s Energy Department is the sixth largest consumer-owned utility in California and is an economic catalyst in the Imperial and Coachella Valleys, serving more than 140,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. The Energy Department employs 654 full-time staff and has a total operating and maintenance budget of $131.1 million for FY 2009-2010.
Under direction of the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager-Energy, manages the activities and personnel engaged in transmission engineering and system planning; regulatory compliance; electric system operations and power generation; telecommunications systems; and in providing service to customers.
Requires a BS in electrical engineering and ten years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience in a public or private utility organization. Registration as a Professional Engineer (electrical) with the State of California is desired.
